Today, scouts from Pack 707 and Troop 742 came together to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in meaningful acts of community service.
At W. O. Thomas, Jr. Boat Landing in North Charleston, our scouts tackled a litter cleanup project with enthusiasm and determination. Although the boat landing initially appeared fairly clean, our Cub Scouts, true to their nature, left no stone unturned—scouring bushes and surrounding areas for every piece of trash they could find. Their efforts resulted in seven bags of trash collected, making a noticeable difference in the area.
Special recognition goes to our awesome Tiger Scout, Kingstyn, who won the Most Unique Trash Award for discovering a whole sweet potato during the cleanup!

Participating scouts included Elle, Reagann, Jude, Ian, and Kingstyn, alongside 6 Troop Scouts and 8 adults, showing the power of teamwork and the importance of protecting our environment.
Our day of service didn’t stop there.
Ayden took the initiative to do a neighborhood cleanup on his own, making a positive impact right in his community.
Holden and Airabella, along with their families, went above and beyond by organizing their own food drives. Their efforts helped collect much-needed items to stock blessing boxes in various neighborhoods, bringing hope and support to their communities.
We also know there are other scouts and families working on their own service projects. We look forward to seeing your photos and hearing about your contributions—thank you for helping to make a difference in your community!

These acts of service reflect the dedication of our scouts to live by the Scout Law and the Scout Oath—to be helpful, kind, and make the world a better place. On this important day, their commitment to their community truly shined.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work and determination shown by our scouts and their families. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this MLK Day a meaningful day of service!
