Adventure Awaits: A New Way to Explore Scouting

Cub Scout Pack 707 has kicked off 2025 with the launch of an exciting new program designed to bring scouts and families closer to nature. The brand-new Hiking Club emphasizes outdoor adventure, physical fitness, and an appreciation for the great outdoors while fostering the core values of scouting.

A Memorable Launch

The Hiking Club was officially launched on January 1, 2025, with the pack’s annual Day One Hike at Sawmill Branch Trail. This 3.14-mile trek brought together 5 scouts, 3 den chiefs, and 7 adults, who celebrated the New Year with a scenic walk through wetlands and forested paths. The event exemplified the spirit of adventure and camaraderie that Pack 707 hopes to inspire through the Hiking Club.

Program Highlights

The Hiking Club offers an exciting opportunity for scouts to connect with nature and challenge themselves physically. As part of the program, scouts will:

• Participate in regular hikes throughout the Lowcountry and beyond.

• Earn recognition for milestones, achievements, and participation.

• Learn about conservation, Leave No Trace principles, and local ecosystems.

Families and community members are invited to join many of the hikes, making this program a wonderful way to share the scouting experience with others.

Building Momentum

The Hiking Club launch video, which features the enthusiasm and spirit of Pack 707, has already garnered significant attention on social media, with over 1,700 views and 18 shares in just a few days. The program has sparked interest among scouts and leaders across the Coastal Carolina Council and beyond. Excitingly, a scoutmaster from Kenya has reached out to Pack 707 about starting a pen pal program, showcasing how scouting connects communities worldwide.

The next adventure for the Hiking Club is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the ACE Basin National Wildlife Reserve. This family-friendly hike promises to be another memorable event as scouts explore the beautiful Lowcountry trails.
